Troubleshooting / Omron lookups

Omron error lookups: inverter, servo or PLC?

Omron shows its codes differently on each product: E codes like E07 on an MX2 inverter, main and sub numbers like 16.0 on a G5 or 1S servo drive, and four-digit codes like 80F1 in the A400 word of a CP1 or CJ2 PLC. Find the unit that shows the code, then open its lookup.

Pick the unit that shows the code

Each lookup lists the codes from Omron's own manuals, with what each one means, the likely causes and the first checks, and links the manual it comes from.

LookupWhere you see the codeOn the page
Omron MX2 Fault CodesMX2 and RX inverters, E code on the operator63 codes, for example E01 Over-current event while at constant speed, E02 Over-current event during deceleration, E03 Over-current event during acceleration
Omron Servo Error CodesOMNUC G5 (R88D-K) and 1S (R88D-1S) servo drives, main and sub number on the drive display80 codes, for example 16.0 / 16.00 Overload, 24.0 / 24.00 Error Counter Overflow, 21.0 / 21.00 Encoder Communications Disconnection Error
Omron PLC Error CodesCP1E, CP1L, CP1H and CJ2 PLCs, ERR/ALM LED and the error code in A40061 codes, for example 80F1 Memory error, 80F1 Memory Error, 00F7 Battery error

For drive faults across brands, fabrico.io has a VFD fault codes guide.

Log the code, not just the stop

Write down the code with the unit it came from and the minutes lost, every time. Two numbers a week (how often each code fires and what it costs) turn "that alarm comes up sometimes" into a ranked list, and the free OEE tracker turns the week into a downtime Pareto. An alarm number tells you what the unit detected, not what happened at the machine in the seconds before: Fabrico's camera-based OEE software syncs camera video with machine data, so you can replay the moment the machine stopped next to the alarm.

See the moment the machine stopped

Fabrico, a light MES with computer vision, syncs camera footage with machine and timeline data, so you can replay the exact moment a machine stopped and review the cause next to its alarm. Cameras also catch short stops and a line that is switched on but not producing, the losses nobody writes down. Machines connect through a PLC, a Fabrico IoT device or an AI camera.
