Free OEE Software: Log a Shift, Get OEE and a Pareto in 2 Minutes
A genuinely free, no-signup OEE tracker that turns one shift log into OEE, availability, performance, quality, a downtime Pareto, and a benchmark comparison.
The short answer
- Open the free OEE tracker at oeelab.com/oee-tracker, no signup, no time limit.
- Log one shift in about 2 minutes and get OEE, availability, performance, and quality instantly.
- Every stop you log builds a downtime Pareto plus a comparison to the 85% world-class benchmark (traced to Nakajima, Introduction to TPM, 1988).
- When a plant needs automatic PLC capture, stop video with suggested causes, or multi-site rollups, that is the point to book a Fabrico demo.
Shift logs and stops with their reasons, your OEE and a downtime Pareto, with work orders and PM plans built in for the repair side. It runs in your browser with no account, and the first time you open it, it offers to bring in what you logged in the tracker.
Most plants start their OEE journey the same way: a whiteboard, a spreadsheet, or a notebook by the line. That works until someone asks for a downtime Pareto or wants to know if 71% OEE is actually good. The free OEE tracker at OEE Lab exists to skip that gap. Log a shift in about 2 minutes and get OEE, availability, performance, quality, a ranked downtime Pareto, and a comparison against the 85% world-class benchmark (traced to Nakajima, Introduction to TPM, 1988), all calculated for you, with no signup and no time limit.
This is not a stripped-down teaser. It is a full, standalone OEE and light CMMS toolkit: a work-order board, a preventive-maintenance schedule, an asset register, CSV/JSON export, and an installable app you can put on a shop-floor tablet. If you want to sanity-check the formulas first, the OEE calculator and the what is OEE guide cover the math and definitions in plain language.
Where it stops is honest: you are the one entering the shift data, you are the one figuring out why a stop happened, and it all lives on one device in one browser. That is exactly the gap a platform like Fabrico is built to close once a plant is running more than one line, and we walk through that trade-off plainly further down this page.
What you get, free
2-minute shift log
Enter run time, stops, and units for a shift and the tracker does the OEE math for you, no spreadsheet formulas to build or fix.
Instant OEE breakdown
See OEE plus the three components, availability, performance, and quality, so you know exactly which one is dragging the number down.
Downtime Pareto
Every stop you log gets ranked into a Pareto chart, so the biggest chunk of lost time is obvious at a glance instead of buried in a notes column.
85% world-class benchmark
Your OEE is plotted against the 85% world-class reference (traced to Nakajima, Introduction to TPM, 1988) so you know immediately if a line is world-class, average, or in trouble.
Work orders, PM schedule, asset register
A light work-order board, a preventive-maintenance schedule, and an asset register live alongside the tracker so you are not juggling three separate free tools.
Export, PWA, shareable scorecard
Pull your data out as CSV or JSON any time, install the tracker as an app on a shop-floor tablet, and share a scorecard with your team or your boss.
Log one shift and the free tracker shows your OEE, your loss Pareto and how you compare to world-class. Add work orders and preventive-maintenance reminders in the same place.
Worked example: one shift in the free tracker
Here is what a single logged shift gives you (illustrative numbers). Planned production time 450 minutes, 45 minutes of stops, an ideal cycle time of 2 seconds, 11,000 pieces made and 220 rejected. Run time is 405 minutes, so Availability is 405 / 450 = 90.0%. The 11,000 pieces needed 22,000 seconds (366.7 minutes) at ideal speed, so Performance is 366.7 / 405 = 90.5%. Good pieces are 10,780, so Quality is 98.0%. OEE is 0.900 x 0.905 x 0.980 = 79.9%.
The tracker shows those three factors, the gap to the 85% world-class figure (traced to Nakajima, Introduction to TPM, 1988) and your loss Pareto as soon as you save the shift, with no account. Try the same numbers in the OEE calculator or log them in the OEE tracker.
Where free stops, and Fabrico begins
The free tracker is built for getting started fast and for one plant on one device. When a site gets serious about its losses, the manual steps start to cost more than they save. This is exactly where Fabrico takes over.
| Capability | Free OEE Lab tracker | Fabrico |
|---|---|---|
| Data capture | Log each shift by hand in about 2 minutes, data stays in your browser. | Tracks OEE and downtime live from PLCs, IoT sensors or AI cameras. |
| Micro-stop cause | You investigate short stops yourself and note the reason. | Where cameras are fitted, the video of a stop sits next to its machine data, with AI-suggested likely causes the team validates. |
| From loss to fix | You spot the loss, then raise the work order yourself on the board. | A technician opens the work order straight from the stop, in the same system. |
| Scope and multi-site | One plant on one device and browser, best for a single line or shift. | Plant-wide and multi-site from one central cloud view. |
| Integrations | Standalone, run it on its own, export data when you need it elsewhere. | Connects to your PLCs and syncs with SAP and other ERPs through integrations and a REST API. |
| Access and roles | Local device sign-in with people and roles on that one device. | Org SSO with roles across the plant and a full audit trail. |
| Reporting | Instant OEE, availability, performance, quality, a downtime Pareto, and CSV/JSON export you run yourself. | Live plant-wide dashboards and reports. |
| Scale | The best genuinely free way to start on one line, today. | The professional platform you graduate to as the plant gets serious. |
Frequently asked questions
Is this OEE software actually free, or is it a trial?
The OEE tracker is free with no signup and no time limit. There is no credit card, no trial clock, and no seat cap. Your data stays in your browser on the device you use it on.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Open oeelab.com/oee-tracker and start logging a shift right away. If you want people and roles on that one device, you can set up a local sign-in, but it is optional.
How is this different from a spreadsheet?
A spreadsheet is infinitely flexible, but you build the OEE math, the Pareto, and the benchmark yourself. The tracker calculates OEE, availability, performance, and quality instantly, ranks your downtime reasons into a Pareto, and compares you to an 85% world-class benchmark (traced to Nakajima, Introduction to TPM, 1988), so you skip the formula-building.
How does this compare to MaintainX, UpKeep, Limble, or Fiix?
Those are CMMS platforms, strongest for getting work orders off paper with a mobile-first app (MaintainX, which has a free plan, or UpKeep, which offers a free trial), a clean self-serve interface (Limble, paid), or a free plan for core records (Fiix). The OEE Lab tracker is purpose-built for OEE math, Pareto, and benchmarking, plus a light work-order board and PM schedule, all free with no seat caps to plan around.
What happens when one line or plant gets too big for this?
Manual entry, single-device scope, and self-serve support become the bottleneck once you are running multiple lines or sites, need PLC data flowing in automatically, or need someone to actually find the cause of a micro-stop. That is the point to book a Fabrico demo.
Can I export my data if I switch tools later?
Yes. The tracker exports to CSV and JSON any time, so your shift logs and downtime history are yours to take with you, whether that is into a spreadsheet, another tool, or a Fabrico rollout.
When free is not enough, Fabrico is the upgrade
Once a line's OEE story stops fitting on one device, the free tracker has done its job: it proved the numbers matter and got the whole team looking at the same Pareto. The next problem is different. It is manual entry eating an operator's time every shift, micro-stops nobody has hours to investigate one by one, and a plant that now spans more than one line or site. Fabrico, a light MES, tracks OEE and downtime live from PLCs, IoT sensors or AI cameras, puts the video of a stop next to its machine data where cameras are fitted, with AI-suggested likely causes, and lets a technician open the work order from the stop, all from a central, EU-built platform with data hosted in the AWS EU region and controls that support audit-readiness against ISO 27001, 20000-1, and 9001. If that is where your plant is headed, book a Fabrico demo.
