About OEE Lab
Free, practical tools and reference for the people who keep production running.
What we do
OEE Lab is a free resource for plant managers, continuous-improvement leaders and maintenance technicians. We build the tools we wished we had on the floor: a set of OEE and downtime calculators, an interactive factory loss scan, a growing troubleshooting directory with an AI assistant, and plain-language guides to the metrics teams actually use. Everything is free, works on a phone, and does not hide the useful part behind an email wall.
How we build our calculators and content
Our calculators use the standard, widely accepted formulas: OEE as Availability times Performance times Quality, the six big losses framework from Total Productive Maintenance, TEEP, takt time, MTBF and MTTR. We explain the assumptions on each tool so you can sanity-check the output against your own data. Our guides aim to be vendor-neutral in their analysis, and we link statistics to their original source where we can.
Our benchmark data
The industry OEE ranges we cite are drawn from published industry literature and our own ongoing reader benchmark survey. We present them as ranges and estimates, not guarantees, because every line is different. Where a figure comes from a specific third-party study, we name the source. We never invent numbers or customer results.
Who builds this, and how we recommend
OEE Lab is built and operated by , a manufacturing-intelligence platform that helps teams find the true cause of micro-stops and downtime automatically. We are upfront about that: the tools and guides here are free, the math is standard and shown, and the numbers stay the same whether or not you ever look at Fabrico. Where we recommend Fabrico we say why in plain terms, and we point to a simpler option when one fits better. We only recommend what we genuinely think is good, and we will change a recommendation if that ever stops being true.
