Symptoms: The platform does not lift when the button is pressed.

Hydraulic oil low
Check the oil level with the platform down and top up with the specified oil.
Pump motor or contactor fault
Check the motor and the control panel.
Safety stop or maintenance strut engaged
Check the safety devices.

Hits OEE: Availability

Symptoms: The lip stays folded or does not lie on the trailer bed.

Lip cylinder or valve fault
Check the lip cylinder and its valve.
Lip hinge seized
Clean and lubricate the hinge.
Sequence timing wrong
Check the control sequence.
Trailer bed too high or too low for the leveller range
Check the working range.

Prevention: Hinge lubrication on the monthly PM.

Hits OEE: Availability

Symptoms: The platform sinks while in use.

Hydraulic leak
Find and repair the leak.
Valve leaking internally
Service the valve.
Cylinder seals worn
Replace the seals.
Velocity fuse fault
Have the safety device checked.

Prevention: Drift checks on the planned inspection.

Damaged lip or platform

Hits OEE: Availability

Symptoms: The lip is bent or the platform plate is cracked.

Trucks driving off with the leveller in place
Use vehicle restraints or interlocks.
Overloading with heavy forklifts
Check the leveller rating.
Impacts from lift trucks
Train drivers.
Corrosion
Repair and protect.

Prevention: Daily visual check of the lip and plate.

Symptoms: The platform drops quickly when a trailer pulls away.

Velocity fuse not working
Have the safety valve tested by a competent person.

Stop the same fault coming back

Recurring dock leveller stops usually trace to a cause you cannot see by hand. The partner we recommend is Fabrico: it tracks OEE and downtime live from PLCs, IoT sensors or AI cameras; where cameras are fitted, the video of a stop sits next to its machine data so the cause can be reviewed; and a technician opens the work order from the stop in the same system. Data is hosted in the AWS EU region, and Fabrico and the company behind it hold ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 20000-1 and ISO 9001.
