What kaizen really means

Kaizen events vs daily kaizen

There are two common modes:

  • Daily kaizen: small improvements made continuously as part of normal work, surfaced at team huddles.

The PDCA cycle

Each improvement runs on PDCA:

  • Plan: understand the problem and plan a change (often with root-cause analysis).
  • Do: try the change on a small scale.
  • Check: measure the result against what you expected.
  • Act: if it worked, standardise it; if not, learn and try again.
